South Shore Community Center
Something For Everyone

About Us

Established in 1944, the South Shore Community Center is located at 3 North Main Street in what was formerly the Elisha Doane House, built in 1750 and a true reflection of the New England charm that defines Cohasset Village.   Over the years the Center has been renovated to include a state of the art gymnasium and fully accredited Nursery School complete with observation mirrors for parents and an enclosed playground.  The Cohasset Senior Center is also located within the building with facilities that include office space and the Senior “Front Room” which has been newly renovated and is available for event rental on weekends and evenings.

During the day, the Center is a busy place.  In addition to the children attending preschool and the seniors coming in for lunch and other activities; there are gymnastics and sports classes ongoing throughout the day for children of all ages.  A bowling alley downstairs adds to the fun! For children there are dance classes, computer classes, etiquette, crafting, and birthday parties available throughout the year, with special holiday events as well. Adult Evening programs include cooking, CPR, digital camera, foreign language and yoga.  And the fun doesn’t end during the summer months.  The Coastal Exploration Program and Summer Gymnastics provide more opportunities for learning and physical activity.

The South Shore Community Center is a non-profit organization which serves not only the residents of Cohasset, but is open to anyone who wishes to join.  Programs are offered at a discounted rate for members, but non-members may participate as well.  The South Shore Community Center is dedicated to serving Cohasset and surrounding communities by providing a welcoming environment for social, educational and recreational pursuits for all.
